About Gymei
The Gymei, short for Gymnasium Meiendorf, was founded in 1966 and is located in the district Meiendorf in the northern part of Hamburg. There are approximately 950 students attending grades 5-12 at the Gymei, with a focus on bilingual and musical aspects. The staff consists of 75 teachers who are teaching languages (English, French, Latin and Spanish), natural sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), social sciences (Geography, History, Politics and Economics, Religion, and Philosophy), Art, Music, Drama, P.E., Computer science, Media science, and MUN. Subjects such as History, Geography, Politics and Chemistry can be taught in English instead of German. Our school has an orchestra, a concert band and several choirs which are part of the musical branch of our school. Since September 2009, our Model United Nations conference is held yearly at the Gymei, named Model United Nations of Hamburg. We are the only school in Hamburg hosting a MUN conference.
